DOROTHY L. SOLOFRA


Dorothy L. Solofra, 81, Burlington, died peacefully at her home on March 12, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on July 27, 1930, in Chicago, to the late Charles and Emily (Rezabek) Verba. She spent her early life and received her education in Chicago.

On Jan. 14, 1950, in Chicago, she married Kenneth Michael Solofra. Following marriage they resided in Pell Lake from 1965 until 1968 before making their home in Burlington. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2006.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She loved to cook and was a wonderful baker. She enjoyed working on crafts, which she donated to St. Charles fundraisers. She loved to travel with her husband and had logged many miles on their RV. She passed many hours working on jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She had 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and never missed a birthday or holiday.

Survivors include her children, Michael S. (Noreen) Solofra, Burlington, Linda K. Kalous, Burlington, Kenneth F. Solofra, Raymond, Karen E. (Robert) Dechantigny, Burlington, Kathryn E. Warren, Burlington; grandchildren, Jennifer (Brad) Miller, Shannon (Bob) Koehler, Aiden Kalous, Jared and Alex Dechantigny, Les and Emily Warren, Frank (Laurel) Solofra, Jacob and Kerrie Solofra and Kelly (Matt) Henrichs; seven great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Richard Verba.

Visitation is Saturday, March 17, from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m., at St. Charles Church. The Rev. Steve Amann will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Charles Parish or to Odyssey Hospice are suggested. Schuette-Daniels Family Funeral Home, Burlington, is assisting the family.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Odyssey Hospice, Home Helpers and a big hug to Patty her caregiver.
