In this week’s Standard Press…

So what would you do to benefit a person you’ve never met?

The owner and staff at Itzin’s Shoes in Burlington pledged 50 percent of the proceeds from sales on Saturday to benefit a fund set up for the children of Anthony Azarian, an area man who died in a construction accident on March 5.

And while that was widely viewed as a generous gesture by most people, store owner Dave Schmalfeldt had no idea the promotion would end up raising nearly $14,000 for Azarian’s kids – a newborn son and a 4-year-old daughter.

Coverage of Itzin’s satisfyingly successful fundraiser is one of the front-page stories in this week’s edition of the Burlington Standard Press.
