With freshman Brian Dankle shooting the fourth-lowest score of the meet, the Burlington High School boys golf team finished third at the Southern Lakes Conference Golf Major No. 1 Tuesday.

Played at the par-72 Ives Grove Golf Course, Dankle carded a 40-43.

Dankle had nothing worse than a double bogey on any hole, and had three birdies.

Going into the meet, head coach Bill Berkholtz believed his team to finish in the top half of the conference, and his team proved him right.

As a team, the Demons carded a 364. Waterford won the meet with a 328, followed by Westosha Central with a 341.

Ben Geiger fired a 91, Josh Ketterhagen a 94, and Roger Haluzak a 96.

The fifth Demon golfer – Scott Vyhanek – shot 100.

Led by Geiger, the team’s only golfer with varsity experience, the Demon boys finished seventh at the Wolverine Classic Friday.

Geiger fired a 90 on the par-70 Rivermoor Golf Club course to help the Demon boys to a 371 team score. Waterford won the event with a 319.

Burlington was tied with Whitewater at 371 for sixth, but lost the tiebreaker to the Whippets.
