Wolverine golfers stay undefeated

The early-season roll for the Wolverine boys’ golf team continued with wins at the Southern Lakes Conference Boys Golf Major No. 1 Monday, at the Wolverine Classic April 13, and at the Panther Invitational April 12.

At the Golf Major No. 1 Monday, Waterford’s team score was a 328, which was 13 strokes better than second-place Westosha Central.

The Wolverines had the two top golfers on the day as Zack Nash carded a 77 and Dakota Maney an 80 on the par-72 Ives Grove Golf Course.

Nash had a 41 on the front nine and a 36 on the back, while Maney shot a 42-38.

Although Nash had one triple bogey, he also had two eagles and three birdies.

Andrew Schultz fired an 83 and Garrett Buri an 88 to finish off the team scoring.

Kyle Pagac also competed, shooting a 96.

 

Wolverine Classic

Waterford won this event played at Rivermoor Golf Club by 11 strokes over second-place Westosha Central. The Wolverines carded a 319 to the Falcons 330.

Waterford had three golfers in the 70s on the par-70 course. Nash carded a 77, Maney a 78, and Schultz a 79. Buri finished off the varsity scoring with an 85.

Nash had the best nine-hole score, shooting a one-over-par 36 on the back nine. Maney had the best front-nine score with a 38.

Other Wolverines who participated were Pagac (87), Grant Beck (88), Matt Puetz (95) and Jazz Tulda (97).

Panther Invitational

On April 12, Waterford won by 17 strokes over second-place Wilmot.

The format for the event featured 2-man best ball, 2-man alternate shot, and 2-man scramble. The three scores were combined for the team score.

The Wolverine boys tallied 114 points to Wilmot’s 131. Union Grove was third with 139 and Elkhorn fourth with 141.

Schultz and Nash combined in the 2-man best ball to card a 37, one over par. Buri and Beck teamed up in the 2-man scramble to shoot a 38, and Maney and Pagac paired up in the 2-man alternate shot for a 39.

On Saturday, April 21, the Wolverines will participate in the Monroe Invitational at Bonny Meade Links.

The SLC Boys Golf Major No. 2 will take place Tuesday, April 24, at Evergreen Golf Club, Elkhorn.
