DARLENE M. MARTIN


Darlene Marie Martin, 73, Burlington died April 22, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. She was born June 8, 1938 to the late George and Marguerite (Wagner) Schroeder in Chicago. She spent her early life in Chicago were she graduated from St. Gabriel’s High School in 1955. She then moved to Burlington in 1958.

On Aug. 1, 1964, she married William W. Martin in Racine. She was employed as a receptionist at the Gas Company and had waitressed at White Oaks for 30 years. She enjoyed history especially that of World War II and Native American history.  She loved her John Wayne movies and had a very diverse taste in music. She listened to everything from the sounds of the 50s to rock music. She enjoyed going to concerts and the Haylofters productions.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Donna and Diane Martin; sons, Dean and Dale Martin; grandchildren, Heath Regner, Dean Martin Jr., Kala and Erin Frueh; great-grandchildren, Izabella, Maddie and Thomas Marshall Regner; sister, Patricia (James) Hughes; brother, George (Pamela) Schroeder; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her infant brother, George Peter Schroeder and a sister Jeri Kolodzinski.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Williams Bay Care Center and Fr. Norberto Sandoval from St. Benedict for their care and compassion.

Visitation is Thursday April 26, from 4 p.m. until time of memorial services at 7 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. The Rev. Norberto Sandoval will officiate. Burial is Monday April 30, at 11 a.m., at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove.
