PATRICIA T. WEATHERHEAD

Patricia T. (Ward), Weatherhead 86, died April 30, 2012, in the loving presence of her family at Timber Oaks Assisted Living Facility in Union Grove.

She was born Nov. 20, 1925, to the late Cameron Burton and Muriel (Woodcock) Ward in Barbados.

She married Harold Weatherhead on May 9, 1946, and during their 48 years together they raised four children. They came to live in the United States after retirement 25 years ago to be closer to their children who had moved here. He preceded her in death.

A loving wife and devoted mother, Patricia was a wonderful homemaker, a delectable baker and cook, and a very talented artist. She collected shells and created art pieces of them. She also enjoyed needlepoint and creating cross-stitch projects.  Gardening was a favorite past time. As a young woman, she was an excellent tennis player. She was proud to have worked for the ATS-Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War II as part of the Lend/Lease program with the British Army.

Survivors include her children, Stephen (Cindy) Weatherhead, Nancy Weatherhead, Susan (Larry) Smith, Sally Weatherhead; grandchildren, Shannon and David Weatherhead and Ashley and James Smith; many extended family members in Barbados.

She was further preceded in death by her grandson, Douglas Smith.

The family will be holding burial services for Patricia in Barbados at a later date.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jim Simonds and the administration and staff of Timber Oaks Assisted Living for the outstanding and loving care that they have taken of Patricia.

Miller-Reesman Funeral Home, Union Grove, is serving the family.
