LOIS J. LEWIS


Lois Jane (Miller) Lewis, 90, of Waterford, died May 20, 2012, at Waterford Senior Living.

She was born in Chicago, on May 16, 1922, to the late Roland and Gladys (Oakes) Miller. At age 6 she and her family moved to Waterford.

As a Waterford Union High School student she accompanied Robert W. “Bob” Lewis to the prom and they were crowned King and Queen. They were married on March 13, 1943. He preceded her in death.

She had attended Deaconess Nursing School and was employed as a medical assistant at the Southern Wisconsin Center for many years. She also worked for a time at Zimmer’s Pharmacy on Main Street. She was a current member of the Rochester Congregational Church where she once served on the Board of Directors. She volunteered with the Burlington Hospital Auxiliary, was a member of the Friends of Waterford Library, a charter member of the Business and Professional Women of Waterford and a former member of the Waterford Lioness. She also enjoyed spending time with the Friends of Boerner Gardens in Whitnall Park.

Survivors include her children, Ronald (Jean), Gary (Mary Jo) and Scott (Diane); grandchildren, Jeffrey (Prentice) Lewis, Kristi Lewis, Kirsten (John Hagenow) Lewis, Stacey (Karl) Norland, Robert C. (Jade) Lewis, Kody (fiancée’ Lauren) Lewis, Tylor Lewis and Kailey Lewis; great-grandchildren, Colin, Sadie, Haylen, Landry and Avery; nephew, Jeff (Jan) Beardsley; other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Thursday, May 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Mealy Funeral Home, 225 W. Main St., Waterford. Funeral services are Friday, May 25, at 10:30 a.m., at Rochester Congregational Church, 103 S. State St. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery following services.

In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, her family suggests memorials to either Rochester Congregational Church or Waterford Public Library.

The Family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff and residents of Waterford Senior Living for their special care of our dear Mom, Lois Jane Lewis.
