BRENDA M. (BAUMAN) INDYK


Brenda M. (Bauman) Indyk, 41, died suddenly on May 21, 2012, at her residence in Okinawa, Japan.

She was born in Burlington, on June 11, 1970, to James and Carolyn (Scherrer) Bauman. She attended St. Charles Grade School and Burlington High School graduating in 1988. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and earned a degree in French and Literature.

She served in the U.S. Army from 2002 to 2005 as Lieutenant and was promoted to Captain while in the Reserves. Her tour of duty included nine months in Iraq.

She married Captain Lawrence Indyk on Sept. 5, 2004, in Kansas City, Mo. She earned a law degree and a Masters in social work at the University of Kansas and graduated in May, 2010. She, her husband and two children moved to Okinawa in March 2012, where her husband is stationed as an attorney in the Army.

She enjoyed creative writing, sewing, working out at the gym, but most of all, spending time with her children and husband.

Survivors include her husband; son, Sammy, and daughter, Audrey; her parents; sisters, Rita (Frank) Marinkovich of Woodinville, Wash., Pamela Zavodski of Tulsa, Okla.; brother, Stephan (Belinda) Bauman of Baltimore, Md.; nieces and nephews, Hannah, Luke, Samantha, JohnMark and Isak Marinkovich, and Joshua and Caleb Bauman.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Eugene and Lorraine (Robers) Bauman, and Elmer and Agnes (Elverman) Scherrer.

Tentative arrangements have been set at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 525 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, on Wednesday, May 30, with a viewing from 10:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. followed by a memorial and prayer service at 1 p.m., officiated by Chaplain Lawrence Williams.
