WILLIAM E. HEINZ


William E. “Bill” Heinz, 87, Union Grove, entered into eternal rest at his home surrounded by his loving family on May 26, 2012.

He was born in Milwaukee on Jan. 3, 1925, to the late William and Pauline (Krieger) Heinz. He spent his early life in Milwaukee and graduated from Bay View High School. He then attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Pharmacy.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On May 23, 1953, in Milwaukee, he married Ethel L. Weiss. Following marriage they made their home in Union Grove. She preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 2009.

He was a pharmacist for and later co-owner of Hauper’s Pharmacy in Union Grove. He retired in 1990. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, past president and member of the Union Grove Lions Club where he received the Fellow Award, and was past president of the Union Grove Chamber of Commerce.

He received numerous national awards and acknowledgements for his work in the field of pharmacy and the Lions Club. His commitment to volunteerism will never be matched, and his eternal smile will always be remembered.

Survivors include his loving daughters, Natalie (Gary) Longworth, Milwaukee, Lora (Ronald Hanson) Heinz, Union Grove, Lisa Thomson, Milwaukee, Ellen (Mark) Primuth, Racine; grandchildren, Chad and Ryan Longworth, Samantha Primuth, William and Matthew Thomson; siblings, Olga Schmitt, Ottilie Gauger, Walter (Bonnie) Heinz and Dr. Leonard (Dorothy) Heinz.

Visitation is Thursday, May 31, from 4-8 p.m., at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home, 908 11th Ave., Union Grove, and also at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Friday, June 1, from 2 p.m. until time of services at 3 p.m. The Rev. James Keuch will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in Union Grove Cemetery.

Memorials to Union Grove Lions Club, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to the Wisconsin Lions Foundation are suggested.

Bill’s daughters would like to extend a very special thank you to the medical team and staff at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, his doctors and nurses here at the Union Grove Clinic, Wheaton Franciscan Hospice team, Bright Star caregivers, the Rev. James Keuch, St. Paul’s church members, and all his friends and neighbors for everything they have done for him.
