CARL O. ZINZER


Carl Otto “Butch” Zinzer,  70, Paddock Lake and Kissimmee, Fla., died June 4, 2012, at his home in Paddock Lake. He was born on Dec. 10, 1941, in Chicago, to the late Carl and Meta (Kruse) Zinzer Sr. He spent his early life in Niles, Ill., attending St. Matthews Lutheran School in Niles, and Maine Township High School in Park Ridge.

On Sept. 29, 1962, at Grace Lutheran Church in Northbrook, he married Barbara Lee Grumbeck. Following marriage they resided in Niles, Arlington Heights, Grayslake, and Prairie View, before making their home in Paddock Lake. He and his wife have a second home in Kissimmee.

He was a retired firefighter for the Village of Arlington Heights. Prior to that he owned Zinzer Fuel Oils. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Kissimmee, and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burlington.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, construction and building and remodeling homes for his children and most of all the time he spent with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife; children, Jennee (Sandford) Reed, Burlington, Kim (Jeff) Sibley, Burlington, Charles Zinzer, Paddock Lake; grandchildren, Garrett Reed, Griffin Reed, Nigel Reed, Nathaniel Sibley, Miranda Reed and Evelyn Sibley; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Eleanor and Gordon Engels, Florence and George Rossmann and Mildred and Edgar Rossmann.

Visitation is Thursday, June 7, from 6-8 p.m. and again Friday, June 8, from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The Revs. Kirk Lahmann and Matt Moldstad will officiate.

The family has asked for no floral donations but that memorials be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 3249 Windmill Point, Kissimmee, FL 34746 or St. John’s Lutheran Church, 198 Westridge Ave., Burlington, WI 53105, or to a charity of your choice. The family is also requesting that those attending the visitation and service dress casually.
