RICHARD F. MOGENSON


Richard F. “Mogie” Mogenson, 61, Burlington, died June 3, 2012, at Memorial Hospital of Burlington. He was born on Oct. 26, 1950, in Watertown, to the late Vernon and Elizabeth (Gerhloff) Mogenson. He was a lifetime resident of Burlington and a graduate of Burlington High School, class of 1969.

Mogie served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era with the 1st Air Calvary as a door gunner. On April 3, 1980, in Racine, he married Dawn Baumeister.

He worked for Lavelle Industries for 38 years and was a lifelong member of the SFB Motorcycle Club. He loved motorcycles, hot rod trucks, putzing with cars, cutting wood and camping. He enjoyed collecting vehicles and had an abundance of them. He was always willing to help anyone in need.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Tera (Jason) Baumeister-Sayre, Burlington and their children, Ashley Sayre, Brandon Challe, Lexi Llanas, Destiny Sayre, Jonathan Sayre and Kaitlyn Sayre; daughter, Jenna Mogenson; in-laws, Mike Baumeister, Bill (Joy) Bonham, Cheryl (Jon) Hoffman, Elaine (Ron) Baumgart and David (Peggy) Baumeister.

He was further preceded in death by his sisters, Betty June Seefurth and Ellie Mae Poirrier.

Visitation is Saturday, June 9, from 2 p.m. until time of services at 6 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Burial is Monday, June 11, at 2 p.m., at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove.

    my thoughts and prayers go to the family. Dickie was my cousin and we had great times running and exploring the hills at my home. He talked alot of how he loved coming to Aunt Jennie’s (my mom’s) for her pancakes. Although we didn’t keep in touch, I will miss him.
