JEROME J. BAUMEISTER


Jerome J. Baumeister, 79, Burlington, died June 6, 2012, at his home. He was born on July 11, 1932, in Burlington, to the late Barney and Alice (Autermann) Baumeister. He was a lifetime resident of the Burlington area, attending St. Mary’s School, English Settlement School and the Ag School.

On Sept. 12, 1953, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he married Lorraine Probst. Following marriage they resided on the family farm in Dover Township.

He was a dairy farmer and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He loved life and having fun with family and friends, as well as the time spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed polka music, dancing and having a good time.

Survivors include his wife; children, Nick (Diane) Baumeister, Joe Baumeister, Linda (Ron) Hegemann, Debbie Pieters, Jake Baumeister and Lucas Baumeister; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ervin “Bud” (Charolette) Baumeister and Mary Lou (Jack) Braun.

He was further preceded in death by a sister, Romayne (Robert) Linneman; sister-in-law, Delores Baumeister; in-laws Alexander and Lillian Probst.

Funeral services were June 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. James Volkert officiated. Burial was in Rosewood Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, Burlington, served the family.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Holton Manor in Elkhorn and the Aurora VNA Hospice for their gentle treatment and excellent care.
