GLORIA D. CROWLEY

 

Gloria D. Crowley, 77, of Lyons, died June 19, 2012, at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, Ill. She was born on April 3, 1935, in Chicago, to the late Julius and Ilda (Caccini) Desideri. She spent her early life in Chicago and was a graduate of Spalding High School.

On Sept. 12, 1959, she married James W. Crowley. Following marriage they resided in Chicago, before making their home in Lyons for the past 10 years.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, as well as a member of the Parish Life and Human Concerns Committees. She was also a member of the PTA at Immaculate Conception in Chicago. She was a lifelong Cubs fan and enjoyed reading and playing cards. She was an excellent cook and baker and loved sharing with everyone. She also loved to entertain and her home was always open to family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, of Bloomington, Ill.; her son, Jim (Darla) Crowley of Bloomington; nieces, Linda (Rick) Cate, Cathy (Stephen) Harvey, Vicki (Steve) Hanrahan and Jamie (Mike) Ploch; many great nieces and great nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her brothers, Emilio and Jack Desideri.

Visitation is Monday, June 25, from 10 a.m., until time of services at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons. The Rev. John Baumgartner will officiate. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Family Funeral Home, Burlington, is serving the family.
