LAVON I. NORTH


LaVon I. North 89, Burlington, died June 29, 2012, at Village Glen in Lake Geneva. She was born March 19, 1923, to the late Carl and Martha (Schel) Haufle in Bryant, S.D. She spent her early life in Waukesha.

She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1941 and attended Waukesha Area Technical College for business. She was employed by Waukesha Motor Co.

On Feb. 26, 1944, she married the late Harry E. North at the Evangelical Reform Church in Waukesha. Following marriage they ran a dairy farm in Rochester for many years. She was a member of the Rochester Congregational Church.

Survivors include her children, Richard (Kathy) North, Nancy (David) Jochem of Burlington; grandchildren, Justin Loesch, Alyssa (Jacob) Findlay, Holly and Thomas North; her sisters and brother-in-law, Verna North, Marian (Bruce) Jernel, and Janet Foat.

She was further preceded in death by her twin sister, Lorraine (Charles) North, brothers-in-law, George North and Milton Foat.

 

A memorial service is Monday July 2, at 7 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Ray officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on July 2, from 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home.

The family is suggesting memorials be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association.
