GEORGE F. ROBERS


George F. Robers, Melbourne, 82, died Aug. 3, 2012. He was born in Springfield, on Feb. 25, 1930, to the late Frank and Marie Corcoran Robers. He spent his childhood working the family farm, where he met and married his childhood sweetheart, Nettie. They raised seven children there then retired to Florida.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Lyons, and a U.S. Army Veteran 1951-1953, stationed in Alaska.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Leroy and Bernard, Burlington; daughter, Nancy; and grandson, Wesley David, Athens, Wis.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jeanette Robers; son, Keith Robers; daughters, Joyce Wichlacz, Ruth Bert, Michelle Robers, Julie Crayton and Jennifer Genna; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Jane Divan;

Services were held Aug. 5. Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, Melbourne, served the family.

    I (Joan) remember George from my school years when I became friends with Nancy. My dad Albert worked with George. I remember writing to Jeanette and George when they had move to Florida. I will always have fond memories of “Mr. Robers”, and still have of the family. George will be truly missed, as he is loved so much.
