After finishing fifth last year in the Southern Lakes Conference, head coach Wayne Herrick is hoping for improvement this fall from his girls’ golf team.

The team will be led by seniors Sarah Eulgen, Tess Lavieri and Jennifer Stevens; and sophomore Ellen Stang. All four were varsity starters on last year’s squad.

With that being the case, Herrick sees experience as a strength for his team, but added that consistency is one of the team’s weaknesses.

Other members of the squad include senior Caroline Kerr; junior Jenny Seitz; sophomores Danni Roberts, Ali Knight and Dana Loppnow; and freshmen Patti Loppnow, Ashley Storck and Emily Smith.

Herrick sees Wilmot and Westosha as the teams to beat in the SLC this fall.

Practices began Aug. 6 and have been going well.

“Our team really gets along well together and they are having fun,” Herrick said.

Burlington begins its season Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the Westosha Central Invitational held at Hawk’s View Golf Course near Lake Geneva.

On Thursday, Aug. 16, the girls will participate in another Westosha Central Invitational, this time at Brighton Dale Links.

Next week, the Demon girls will play in the Racine Case Invitational on Monday, Aug. 20, at Wanaki Golf Course.

They will host Wilmot in an SLC dual on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 3:30 p.m. at Browns Lake Golf Course.
