A solid Westosha Central golf team was too much for the Burlington High School girls Tuesday as the Falcons handed the Demons a 192-212 Southern Lakes Conference defeat at Brighton Dale Links.

“They played very well,” head coach Wayne Herrick said of the Falcon girls. “Our first three girls did pretty good. Our 4 and 5 were not up to their potential. Both of them struggled.”

Senior Sarah Eulgen led the Demons with a 47, with senior Tess Lavieri carding a 49. Sophomore Ellen Stang fired a 54.

Senior Jenn Stevens and junior Jenny Seitz shot 60 and 61, respectively.

Burlington is now 1-1 in the SLC.

Although the Demon girls scored a 215-217 win over Wilmot Aug. 232 at Browns Lake Golf Course, Herrick knows his team has to lower its scores by 10-15 strokes to be competitive in the Southern Lakes Conference.

“In order to be successful, we’ll have to be in that range,” Herrick said.

In order to do so, Herrick indicated the girls are working hard on their short game.

“That’s where it will help us lower our score,” he said.

Against Wilmot, Eulgen shared medalist honors with Wilmot’s Brittany Loveless, with each carding a 49.

“She did OK,” Herrick said of Eulgen’s play. “She has the capabilities of shooting lower. She is a fairly good putter and hits the ball a long ways.”

Stang added a 53, Lavieri a 54, and Stevens a 59, to finish out the team scoring. Seitz also carded a 59, but that score did not count toward the team score
