Schwartz leads Bronco runners at Lincoln Park

In the season-opening cross country meet Saturday, the Union Grove High School cross country squads had five medalists.

The Dog Days of August invitational is hosted by Kenosha Tremper and is held at Lincoln Park in Kenosha.

Three Bronco girls and two Bronco boys brought home medals from the 21-team meet, which has runners competing with athletes in their own grade level.

The top finish by a Bronco runner was turned in by junior Madelyn Schwartz. Schwartz finished third in the junior race with a time of 16 minutes 59 seconds.

McKenna Chriske was 12th in the senior race, clocked in 18:14, and Anna Peterson was 15th in the sophomore race, turning in a time of 18:09.

The Bronco boys were led by Bailey Davis, who was 13th in the junior race in a time of 19:33, while Logan Kohlhagen medaled in the senior race, finishing 15th in 19:50.

Other top finishers for the boys squad were junior Luke Johnson (20:43), sophomores Jordan McBryde (22:41) and Ben Rossman (22:58).

The fourth- and fifth-fastest times for the girls were turned in by sophomores Lexi Marsh (18:47) and Savannah Patzen (19:42).
