So far this year, the Burlington High School boys volleyball team has been challenged – just not in the Southeast Conference.

The Demons’ latest victim came Monday night as they downed Franklin, 25-10, 25-16, 25-17.

BHS is now 7-0 in the SEC and 24-4 overall, and ranked second in the latest Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

The Demons’ usual suspects piled up points against the Sabers, with Nick Bartlett and Nolan Rueter each posting 10 kills, while Carson Biedrzycki pitched in nine.

Setter Zach Gesteland had 27 assists, while senior libero Garrett Schilling had 19 digs.

“Garrett Schilling had an amazing day both in serve receive and playing defense,” said coach Tim Gesteland. “Garrett had some amazing digs, which kept many plays alive.

“Zach moved the ball around very well,” he added. “Nolan, Nick and Carson were very solid offensively.”

The Demons also picked up a 25-19, 25-17, 25-14 non-conference win over Whitefish Bay at home Oct. 4.

The Demons paced by junior Nolan Rueter, who finished the match with 10 kills and four blocks. Senior Nick Bartlett and junior Ben Geiger added four kills each, while Zach Gesteland and Carson Biedrzycki had two kills each.

Gesteland added 17 assists and three digs, while libero Garrett Schilling had a team-high five digs. Bartlett also had three digs, three service aces and two block kills.
