IRENE V. PHILLIPS


Irene V. Phillips, 76, Burlington, died Nov. 1, 2012, at her home. She was born April 5, 1936, in Maywood, Ill., to the late John and Diana (Hindryckx) Lux. She had been a lifetime resident of Burlington and a graduate of St. Mary’s High School.

On Oct. 6, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she married James E. Phillips.

She was employed at Memorial Hospital of Burlington as both a manager and supervisor in the Medical Records Dept. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed bingo, fishing and camping, especially at Crystal Lake and up north. Irene was an avid reader and enjoyed cross-stitching, needlepoint and crocheting. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; children, Lisa (Jessie) Hernandez, Minocqua, DeNiene (Mike) Harris, Poway, San Diego, James (Patricia) Phillips, Waterford, Johnny Phillips of Burlington, and Jackie (Tom) Robers, Lyons; grandchildren, Brittani and Christopher Harris, Jordan, Garrett and Gretchen Robers and Paige and Lauren Phillips; siblings, JoAnn Stevens, Patricia (James) Herda and Peter (Robin) Lux; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her godson, Timothy Stevens; aunts and uncles.

Funeral services are Wednesday Nov. 14, at 7 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Jim Volkert will officiate. Visitation is Nov. 14 from 3 to 6:30 p.m., at the Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the Rev. Jim Volkert, VNA Hospice, Radiology staff at Kenosha, Dr. Syed Haider and his staff, and to the many friends and neighbors who have shown their love and support through the last 14 years of Irene’s cancer.
