Wolverine wrestlers come up short at Elkhorn

The Waterford High School wrestling squad came up short Dec. 6 at Elkhorn in a 45-30 loss to the Elks in Southern Lakes Conference action.
Waterford got points in six of the 14 matches, getting pins in two of those matches, while Elkhorn pinned Wolverine grapplers in three of their eight victories.
One of the Wolverines wins came by forfeit (6 points, while Elkhorn won four matches by forfeit (24 points).
In matches settled on the mat, Waterford held a 24-21 edge, winning five of the nine matches.
Getting pins for Waterford were Justin Ratkovec at 106 pounds and Cody Nannemann at 160.
Waterford earned major decisions in three matches. Nick Lancaster won 17-6 at 120, Kody Azarian 16-5 at 126 and Max Fisher 16-5 at 145.
Waterford took on Westosha Central Tuesday in SLC action. No details of this dual were available at press time.
The Wolverine grapplers will participate in the West Allis Central Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Next week, they will host Lake Geneva Badger on Thursday, Dec. 20, in an SLC matchup.
On Saturday, Dec. 22, they will be at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison for the Stoughton Invitational.
