Hilltoppers survive Black Hawk, 35-34

Trailing 34-28 entering the final two minutes of the game, the Catholic Central High School football team managed to score one final time – and then hit the extra point to secure a 35-34 win over Black Hawk in a Level Two WIAA Division 7 playoff game at home Saturday.

Quarterback Carson Meinholz scored on a quarterback sneak on CCHS’s final drive, and then T.J. Walkington kicked the extra point to secure the one-point win.

Black Hawk scored in the fourth quarter to go ahead 34-28, but the team’s kicker was injured on the play, leaving the Warriors without a kicker. They elected to go for a two-point conversion, but failed on the pass attempt.

Catholic Central improves to 7-4 overall. The next round playoff opponent had yet to be determined at 5 p.m. Saturday. Check back for more updates later!
