Honor Our Veterans ceremony is Wednesday

The first celebration to Honor our Veterans is Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 9 to 11 a.m., (doors open at 8:30 a.m.) at The Cotton Exchange, lower banquet room 345 Hickory Hollow Drive, Waterford.

Archie Monuments in Waterford is sponsoring this event to Honor Our Veterans, the goal is to honor those who have protected our freedom and to educate the public why our freedom is not free.

Listed below are some of the highlights for the event:

• military vehicles will be on display one week before the ceremony in front of the Cotton Exchange to promote this event;

• color guard presentation;

• speakers topics: Why They Serve, The Loss of Losing a Loved One to War, Freedom is Not Free;

• Fox River Middle School will have artwork and poems from students on display throughout the banquet room.

• several students will be chosen to read their poems during the ceremony. Fox River band will play patriotic songs throughout the ceremony;

• dedication presentation to the Essman Schroeder American Legion Post #20;

• gun salute.

Refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
