A 22-year old Wind Lake woman who allegedly used a relative’s credit card without permission to buy fast food and other items has been charged with nine felony counts of personal ID theft with financial gain.

If convicted of all charges, she faces a maximum penalty of $90,000 in fines, 54 years in prison, or both.

According to a criminal complaint filed Sept. 22 in Racine County Circuit Court:

Laura A. Hewitt, 26721 Denoon Road, Wind Lake, reportedly admitted to a county investigator that she had taken the relative’s credit card without permission. She also reportedly admitted using it nine times in August at various shops and fast food franchises, as well as to purchase cell phone minutes.
