ALLEN K. MEHRING


Allen Kenneth Mehring, “Ken,” 60, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Oct. 25, 2011.

He was born in Burlington, Dec. 21, 1950, to the late Allen and Joyce (Berger) Mehring. A graduate of Waterford Union High School, he went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree at St. Norbert College. He worked for Schlitz Brewery in Milwaukee for about five years.  His working passion for the past 30 years was in the real estate broker and appraisal business.

He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Waterford, where he was on the church council and in the endowment committee. He was a member of the Waterford Lions Club, serving as president from 1991-1992, and was also active with the Waterford Village Water and Sewer district. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, deer hunting, woodcarving and Friday fish frys.

Survivors include his soul mate, Barb Emerson; son, Ben Mehring; grandson, Tucker of Waterford;  sister, Pam (Patrick) Douglas of Wind Lake; nephew, Bill (Macaire) Douglas; nieces, Lindy and Kelly Douglas; great-nephew, Eyan Douglas; stepsons, Kent-Eric Emerson and D. Geoffrey Emerson; other relatives and countless friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 307 S. First St., (Hwy 20) Waterford. Visitation is at Mealy Funeral Home, 225 W. Main St., Waterford, on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., and also in church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of Mass. Inurnment at St. Thomas Cemetery following Mass on Saturday. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy Ken’s family suggests memorials to St. Thomas Endowment Fund.

The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Pierce and her staff for their special care of Ken these past few years.
