Independent social service agency Love Inc. is planning to expand its facility on South Pine Street as two existing businesses move out of an adjacent building.

Bob’s Pedal Pusher and Stan’s Glass will vacate the building soon.

Love Inc. Executive Director Bill Schoessling said the plans are to move the agency’s children’s store into the bike shop space. There are no “solid plans” on what to do with the other storefront.

“The buildings are connected, so they are considered one unit,” Schoessling explained. “It’ll be more manageable.

“It’ll be a much better use of space for us.”

The two stores will move to new locations. Stan’s Glass will move to 147 Industrial Drive in Burlington, according to owner Mark Wallace. Bob’s will move to 817 North Pine Street – the former Mack’s Garage and Interstate Autoworks.

“I was given notice I had to be out by Feb. 28,” said Bob Koldeway, owner of the Pedal Pusher. He has been at the current location for 15-1/2 years.

“I wanted to downsize sooner or later anyway,” Koldeway added. “I’m just glad it’s not in April or May, because that’s when my season hits.”

Koldeway said he will be losing about 1,700 square feet of usable space in moving to the new location.

However, while Koldeway needs to be out of the space by Feb. 28, he’s hoping to move by the end of the month. He is currently running a sale to try and clear out some of his stock.

“I will still be able to have 100 bikes on the floor,” Koldeway said.

One other thing that will be affected by the move: the Chocolate City Bicycle Ride. Instead of starting from its current location at Bob’s, it will start at Karcher Middle School.
