Water quality is again an issue at Bohners Lake beach

Water quality problems continued to plague the public beach at Bohners Lake in the Town of Burlington Tuesday.

According to a news release from the Western Racine County Health Department, the water at the beach was posted “poor” because at its current bacterial level the water could cause illness.

Signs are posted at the beach to warn people of the risk. To avoid illness, health officials recommend that people avoid ingesting the water and bathe after water exposure.

Daily tests will be conducted until the water quality is considered good. Those who want to swim at the beach are advised to look for any water quality postings before venturing into the lake.

The beach was closed for six days beginning May 30 after tests revealed unsafe levels of bacteria. It reopened June 5 only to have a one-day water quality advisory posted June 12.

People with questions regarding water quality should contact the Western Racine County Health Department at (262) 763-4930.  Water quality testing results at local beaches are posted at www.wrchd.org.

  1. Well, Used to go thru this problem down in Illinois in the late Summer- Between Very Little Rain and Seaweed growth, closing Beaches all the time

I’m afraid Alot of other Lakes are Borderline as well with this Early Summer and Drought going on and Now heat Waves.. Stagnant Water is not good..
Wear Ear Plugs and Never Swallow Lake water and always Take a Rinse off Shower ASAP.. They should have Showers at every Beach anyway..
