Martin H. King


Martin Henry King, 80, of Grand Marsh, died Oct. 8, 2011, at the Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston.

He was born May 30, 1931 in Burlington, to the late William and Anna (Hoeffner) King. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army. He worked for American Motors and later retired from the Pipe Fitters Union Local #597 in Illinois.

Known to his friends as Marty, he was an avid card player and enjoyed euchre and other card games with his good friends several times a week. He also loved hunting and fishing.

He was a member of the VFW Post in Zion, Ill.

Survivors include his best friend, Myrtle Smith and brother, Dominic King of Burlington and many nieces and nephews.

He was further preceded in death by his sister, Agnes Henningfeld.

He will be missed by his good friends Bob Heitman and Larry Metcalf and his neighbors John Short, Conrad and Kathy Kazminski.

Per Martin’s wishes no services are planned. He will be laid to rest at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove. Roseberry’s Funeral Home, Friendship, is assisting the family.
