THOMAS A. GROSSMAN

Thomas A. Grossman, 63, Burlington died Sept. 16, 2011, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Burlington on June 20, 1948, to Robert and Elizabeth (Babe) Grossman. He was raised in Burlington and graduated from UW–La Crosse. He received advanced education from Bryn Mawr University.

On Jan.16, 1971, he married Joy Miller of Menomonie. Early in their marriage they resided in southern California for five years, before moving back to Burlington to raise their family.

He was involved in various organizations including Rotary. He was a chairman of the United Fund Campaign of Burlington, co-chairman of the Burlington Area School District Referendum Committee, and the BASD Drug and Alcohol Policy Committee. He was a founding board member and treasurer for the Burlington High School Athletic Association and a past member of the Burlington Historical Society. He belonged to the American College of Medical Practice Executives, was a member of the Medical Group Management Association, and of the Radiology Business Management Association.

In the late 1980s he was named one of the ten most influential people in Burlington by the Burlington Standard Press. He was a talented athlete, a sports enthusiast, a devoted Packer and Badger fan and an avid golfer. Most of all he was a loving husband, dad, and grampy.

Survivors include his wife of more than 40 years; his mother; children, Robyn (Lance) Nowak, Wauwatosa, Maren (Matt) Keeler, Palm Springs, Calif., Adam (Mingming) Grossman, Beijing, China; granddaughter, Scarlet Keeler; a brother, Jerry (Ara) Grossman; many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Jane.

Memorial services were Sept. 19, at Cross Lutheran Church. The Rev. Corrine Denis officiated. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, assisted the family.
