CECELIA E. KETTERHAGEN


Cecelia E. “Cele” Ketterhagen, 92, Burlington, died Feb. 12, 2012, at Personally Yours Elder Care in Waterford.

She was born on the family farm in Brighton on Feb. 9, 1920, to the late Albert and Lucy (Warren) David. She grew up in Brighton and was a graduate of St. Charles Parish Grade School and Burlington High School.

On Feb. 27, 1946, she married Philip M. Ketterhagen at St. Charles Catholic Church, Burlington. Following marriage they made their home on the Ketterhagen homestead farm until 1983, at which time they moved to Burlington. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 2000.

She had worked in the office of Montgomery Ward prior to marriage and later retired from Foster Forbes Glass Co. as well working many years with her husband on the family farm. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and a Regent for the Daughters of Isabella. She was very athletic and loved fast pitch softball in her younger years. She was the pitcher for a number of state championship teams. She loved bowling, playing cards, making rosaries and gardening.

Survivors include her children, Michael (Mary) Ketterhagen of Fond du Lac, Philip (Bonnie) Ketterhagen, Burlington, Mary (Roger) Briggs, Colgate; daughter-in-law, Judy Ketterhagen, Burlington; grandchildren, Joshua (Sally), Luke (Kourtney), Isaiah (Sara), Anna (Phil) Petrie, Zachary (Crystal), Todd (Michele), Brad (Deanna), Leanne (Daniel) Villa, Christine Ketterhagen, Kelly Ketterhagen, Steven (Tina), Amy Ketterhagen, Danielle Seifert, Elizabeth (Nathaniel) Hedke, Robert Phillips, Christopher Briggs, David Briggs, Kevin Jones and Matt Jones; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was further preceded in death by her sons, Nicholas and Daniel Ketterhagen; grandson, Eric Jones; great-grandchild, Delaney Ketterhagen and by seven siblings.

Visitation is Friday, Feb. 17, from 4-6 p.m., with funeral services at 6:30 p.m., at St. Charles Catholic Church. The Rev. Steve Amann will officiate. Burial is Saturday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m., at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Family Funeral Home, Burlington, is serving the family.

In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church are suggested.
