PATRICIA A. WHITMAN


Patricia Ann “Patti” Whitman, 70, Burlington, died March 26, 2012, at her home. She was born on Aug. 17, 1941, in Mount Clemens, Mich., to the late Worth Hoke and Jennie Mae (Carr) Humphrey. She spent her early life in Port Huron, Mich., where she attended Patchen Grade School and graduated from Wayne Memorial High School. She had been a resident of the Burlington area since 1974.

On April 21, 1984 at Plymouth Congregational Church in Burlington, she married Wayne Allen Whitman. Together they made their home in Burlington.

She worked in the kitchen for Burlington High School and for the Aramark Kitchen System at the high school. She had also worked at the Honey Bear Farm in Powers Lake as well as Prudential Insurance. She was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church and for many years had volunteered for the Arthritis Foundation. She taught the self-help classes at Wheaton Franciscan and was the facilitator for a Burlington and Lake Geneva Fibromyalgia support group that helped many people.

She loved stamping and making cards, reading, listening to Donnie and the Boys, dancing and baking. She was legendary for her Easter egg hunts.

Survivors include her loving husband; children, Candy (Ron) Berquist, Elk River, Minn., Don (Andrea) Weber, Burlington, Jimmy Weber, Burlington, Erin (Steven) Moynihan, Burlington, Jennie (Marc) Milski, Burlington, Shawne (Matt) Gums, Burlington; stepchildren, Tammy (Bill) Kinney, Lyons, Mike Whitman, Elkhorn, Mark (Jenna) Whitman, Milwaukee, Tracey (Brad) Walczak), Muskego; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and brother, Rob Humphrey.

A memorial service is Friday, March 30, at 4 p.m., at Mt. Zion Christian Church, 2230 Hwy 120, Lake Geneva, with the Rev. Dave Adams officiating. Schuette-Daniels Family Funeral Home, Burlington, is assisting the family.
