CATHERINE D. PAULSON

Easter Lily      Catherine D. Paulson, 84, Burlington, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday, June 6, 2016.

She was born Nov. 2, 1931, in Marshfield, to the late H. Gordon and Dorothy (Fornefelt) Kamps, and the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. F.W. Fornefelt Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kamps, Marshfield. She was educated in Marshfield and UW–Madison.

On Oct. 16, 1950, in Madison, she married George C. Paulson, son of George C. and Rosella (Kautz) Paulson. Following marriage they made their home in Madison and Reedsburg before settling in Burlington in 1971. George preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2009. Together they raised six children, Linda Kleinhans, Lance (Angela) Paulson, Erik (Susan) Paulson, Karen (Dr. Kevin) Johnson, Christine (Frank) Kromenaker and Christian (Karolina) Paulson.

She was a wife and mother who enjoyed homemaking and was an avid lifelong reader. She knit for pleasure and created many needlework treasures. She enjoyed her children and their varied activities, and was a longtime member of the Burlington Federated Woman’s Club and an active member of St. John the Divine Episcopal Church where she was a member of the women’s group.

She taught English as a second language for seven years and was both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She participated in other community activities as time allowed.

She leaves behind her children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was further preceded in death by her grandson, Leland Vieth; son-in-law, Harry Kleinhans; and many aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank Catherine’s friends, physicians, Fr. Jason Lavann and her many caregivers for their compassionate love and support and for all the countless acts of kindness extended to the family during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers memorials to St. John the Divine Episcopal Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice is suggested.

Services for Catherine are Saturday, June 18, at 11 a.m., at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, 216 E. Chandler Blvd., Burlington, with the Rev. Jason Lavann officiating. Inurnment will follow the service. Family and friends may visit on June 18, from 10-10:45 a.m., at the church. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
