Demons boys volleyball team bows out

Taken out of their offense by Westosha Central’s powerful jump-serving, the Burlington High School boys volleyball team fell one match short of qualifying for the state tournament Thursday evening.

Central eliminated the Demons, 25-23, 15-25, 25-16, 25-19, in a WIAA sectional final game played at Burlington High School.

Burlington coach Tim Gesteland called it a “high-energy, high-level of volleyball (that) didn’t turn out our way.”

The Demons were led by senior Joey Gesteland and sophomore Nolan Rueter, who each finished with 10 kills and 1 ace. Rueter also recorded 7 digs.

The loss ended Burlington’s season with a 24-8 match record.
