Playing in an extremely tough sectional featuring four of the top 10 teams in the state, the Waterford High School girls’ tennis squad saw its season come to an end at the WIAA Division 1 sectional at Brookfield Central Oct. 5.

“We had the best season Waterford girls tennis has ever had,” exclaimed head coach Linda Jones. “We went 7-0 in (the Southern Lakes) Conference duals. Overall we placed second in conference. We had five girls advance to this sectional tournament.”

In singles, Waterford was represented by its No. 1 singles player Kristina Kamer. At doubles, the Wolverines had Lauren Schwabe and Abbey Schneider (No. 1 doubles) and Brianna Schoof and Bridget Brockmann (No. 2 doubles).

Kamer, a senior, faced Brookfield East’s Bridget Noack in the opening round and lost 6-3, 6-1. Noack went on to take second in sectional and is a seeded player at state.
