For the first time, voters will be asked to show ID
Polls in Western Racine County opened at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m. as voters in the Burlington and Waterford areas trim the list of candidates for local school boards.
This is the first election in which voters are required to show proper identification before being offered a ballot. Because turnout is typically light for primary elections, municipal clerks aren’t expecting delays at the polls as the new rules are put into force.
Burlington Area School District voters will trim a list of six candidates to four for the April 3 general election. Profiles of the candidates appears elsewhere on this site. You’ll find them on the “Burlington” section of the news tab.
It’s a similar situation for voters in the Waterford Union High School District where five candidates are vying for four spots. A story on that race appears on the “Waterford” section of the news tab.
Check back after 8 p.m. this evening for results from the local races.
