Declaration clears the way for federal assistance, if needed
Racine County Executive Jim Ladwig has declared a state of emergency in Racine County due to the potential for flooding.
The declaration comes following the moderate to heavy rainfall in Racine County, resulting in both flood watches and warnings being issued.
“We met with Racine County municipalities this morning to evaluate the current situation and we continue to take proactive steps to lessen the impact of potential flooding along the rivers,” Ladwig said. “County staff continues to monitor the situation closely and we are prepared to do everything we can to support local municipal efforts.”
An emergency declaration positions Racine County to ask for state and federal assistance, if the situation warrants. In addition, the County Executive has the authority to make county personnel and resources available.
