Students in Life Teen, the religious education program for high school students at St. Charles, St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic churches, will hold their 10th annual Cold Hands Warm Heart project to raise funds for the Transitional Living Center.
On Saturday, Oct. 19, the teens will be at local grocery stores accepting donations. On Sunday, Oct. 27, from 1-5 p.m., Life Teen students will go door-to-door, requesting donations for TLC with pledge sheets and detailed information.
The annual Cold Hands Warm Heart sleep out will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2, with 50 teens sleeping outside in cardboard boxes in the St. Charles parking lot. Participants will eat only soup and bread for dinner in a one-night simulated homeless experience that raises funds for those suffering the real thing.
Life Teen’s goal is to raise over $20,000 this year, with all funds going directly to TLC, a local agency and homeless shelter that serve women, children, and families.
Since 2004, Cold Hands Warm Heart has raised more than $90,000 for TLC. This financial support is critical to the shelter being able to meet the needs of the homeless in Burlington. More than 60 percent of those staying at TLC are children.
Those who would like to make a tax-deductible donation to the campaign, should make checks payable to TLC/CHWH and mail to Life Teen, c/o St. Charles Church, 440 Kendall St., Burlington WI 53105.
