Illinois man had been missing since Tuesday on Silver Lake
The body of a fisherman who had been missing since Tuesday was recovered by search crews just before 8:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.
The body of John Spoor, 66, of McHenry, Ill., was found floating in about 7 feet of water, according to authorities.
The were no signs of foul play, the release said. An autopsy will be scheduled through the Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Spoor was reported missing just before 10 p.m. Tuesday after he failed to return from a day of fishing on Silver Lake. He had left home about 8 a.m. and was expected to return at 4 p.m., authorities said.
Sheriff’s officials found Spoor’s car in a parking lot near a Silver Lake boat launch and located his boat a short time later floating in the lake not far from the shore.
The Sheriff’s Department marine unit, Salem Rescue and Department of Natural Resources personnel searched for Spoor until about 2 a.m. Wednesday. The search resumed later that morning and continued off- and-on through Thursday, according to information released by the Sheriff’s Office.
Other agencies involved in the search included the Village of Silver Lake Fire Department, Town of Salem Fire Department, and Town of Randall Fire Department.
