The Racine County District Attorney’s office officially filed charges Thursday in a theft of food service dollars in the Burlington Area School District.
Joel Orwig, of Belgium, Wisconsin, is facing one count of theft of movable property.. It is a class H felony, with a fine up to $10,000 and prison time up to six years.
According to the criminal complaint, there was more than $12,000 missing in currency and checks from Burlington High School, and about another $800 from Dyer Intermediate and about $600 from Karcher Middle School. The total amount lost was $13,842, but allegedly, none of the missing checks had been cashed.
