Headliner announced for Tall Tales festival

Cory Chisel’s Soul Obscura—the Nashville musician’s Stax Records-inspired side project—will headline this year’s Tall Tales Music Festival. Chisel and his talented crew of Nashville players are slated to take the stage at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23.
“Soul Obscura was formed to celebrate lost or hidden soul and R&B gems, songs that we think haven’t gotten their due attention,” says Chisel. “The group of players that surround this project are steeped in the rhythm and philosophy of this great music, and we’re touring this summer to take these incredible songs to places they probably haven’t been yet.”
Chisel joins a lineup that includes fellow Nashville artists Amanda Shires, Andrew Combs, and Los Colognes. Joining them will be a group of Los Angeles-based musicians, including the trio of Maia Sharp, Garrison Starr, and Adrianne Gonzalez; as well as indie-folk artist Tom Brosseau.

Rounding out the lineup are two talented Wisconsin bands: Count This Penny, recently named one of Wisconsin’s 10 ‘Bands to Watch’ by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel; and Kalispell, an exciting solo project by Shane Leonard, a member of the popular Milwaukee band Field Report.
The festival has also announced a partnership with 88NINE Radio Milwaukee, who will feature Tall Tales as part of their Summer Passport series of events. 88NINE staff and volunteers will be on-hand in Burlington on Saturday, August 23 for the festivities.
A complete schedule of events, including performance times and youth music workshops, will be posted on the festival website: http://www.talltalesfestival.com/.
