The Plaza Theater in Burlington will hold a Robin Williams Night Thursday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.
The theater will have Dr. Mervin Langley from Clinical Psychology Associates, Burlington, speak for about five minutes and then answer questions about the warning signs and symptoms of depression and positive strategies to deal with the illness. Local suicide awareness groups will also be in attendance.
Following Dr. Langley brief presentation, the theater will host a free showing of “Dead Poet’s Society,” the 1989 film for which Robin Williams was nominated for best actor playing English professor John Keating. The film was also nominated for best picture and best director, and won Academy Awards for best writing – screenplay written directly for the screen.
I don’t know if I can make it but my wife’s nephew, Michael Roof, had parts in 4 movies and 2 tv shows. He had a family and children. He faced the same end as Robin, in the park by his home. It’s hard to understand why someone with the world ahead of them face so great of depression.
