Racine County residents are being warned about a police impersonator in the area, one that pulled over a woman in the Town of Burlington near Bushnell Park.
According to numerous media reports based off a Racine County Sheriff’s Department press release, a woman pulled over for what was reported to be a dark SUV with red and blue flashing lights in the early morning hours on Monday. The woman was asked for her driver’s license, had a brief conversation with the man and then told she could go.
Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling said, in reports, that the matter had been looked into and was being treated as a police impersonation. Looking into the incident, the department reached the understanding that no officers had conducted the stop.
The man was reportedly in his 30s to 40s with short dark hair and a red/purple mark on his face/neck.
If you have information related to this case, contact the Racine County Sheriff’s Office by calling 262-886-2300.

In Burlington, the last 5 years, I was always Suspicious of these, at least 3, vehicles that roam the city.
You also may find these ‘want to be’ cop vehicles in what use to be Kmart’s parking lot, just hanging out.
The vehicles all have more than one antenna as well as what looks like police lights in the car, if turned on.
Always Seeing them got me wondering more about them.
Finally, One day a friend & I asked a Burlington officer regarding them and he shrugged it off, as they are causing no harm.
Hope This police Impersonator is caught!
I personally know these “want to be cops’ that you speak of Jennifer Enright. They are citizens just like you who just ‘happen’ to be ham radio enthusiasts! May want to stop assuming vehicles with more than one antenna is driven by some creep looking to pray on defenseless women! Ever think this is why the BUPD officer you asked shrugged it off…. maybe they know that you are stereotyping and that these individuals are not causing any problems!!!
