The Burlington Area Association of Churches and Ministers will host its second annual Community Prayer Breakfast Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Veterans Terrace in Burlington.
The cost for the event is $10, or $75 for a table of eight.
Last year, the breakfast featured Pardeep Kaleka, who was present at the Sikh temple shooting in August 2012 in Oak Creek – and who also lost his father in the attack.
This year, the association is featuring another speaker with insight into the human spirit – Mona Augustin. A musician from Haiti, Augustin is also an advocate children’s and women’s rights.
Augustin has composed his own music, and is an artist as well.
In addition to speaking at the prayer breakfast, Augustin will perform at the Coffee House at Chestnut and Pine the night before from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The event will feature a catered breakfast, performances by the Burlington High School choirs and a chance to share interfaith prayer.
“The purpose of our time together will be to move the hearts of our greater Burlington community toward the promotion of peace, the integrity of all people regardless of ethnicity, and to a better understanding and acceptance of the great diversity that is the make up of all communities, even Burlington,” according to a press release issued by organizers.
