The annual traditions of Halloween will get an early kickoff Saturday, as Spooky City will take place in downtown City of Burlington.
The event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with mad scientists in the laboratory (lobby) of Fox River State Bank. The theme is “mad science” and children can come in for science demonstrations and Traxside Skating passes.
Starting at 10 a.m., there will be free hayrides that circle the downtown area. The costume parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. starting in Wehmhoff Square Park, next to the library.
Nearly 50 downtown Burlington businesses will hand out treats from 11 a.m. to noon, or while supplies last. Participating businesses will display a hanging skull.

There will be music and a live “Kids Are People too!” show during the trick or treating, and then a family-friendly, interactive showing of “Ghostbusters” starting after noon at the Plaza Theater.
In attendance will be members of the official Wisconsin Ghostbusters group as a benefit for Children’s Miracle Network.
