Racine County sheriff’s deputies seized nearly 20 pounds of marijuana from a car stopped for speeding on Interstate 94 on Monday.
The 19 pounds of marijuana – which has a street value of approximately $19,000, according to deputies – was being transported from Illinois to Milwaukee by a Milwaukee man.
The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of possession with intent to deliver, according to a press release issued by the sheriff’s department. His identity was withheld pending further investigation.
The vehicle the man was driving was stopped for speeding on northbound I-94 about 4:39 p.m. Monday.
A sheriff’s department dog detected the presence of marijuana in the car and deputies subsequently searched the vehicle.
