With two recently elected board members sworn in Monday night, the Burlington Area School District Board of Education has a slightly different look than it did a week earlier.

Kevin Bird was sworn in to replace Roger Koldeway, who was not re-elected April 7. Phil Ketterhagen, meanwhile, retained his seat and was sworn in as well.

In addition to the change at the board level, several committee changes were made as well.

Jim Bousman was unanimously elected School Board president, replacing William Campbell – who stepped down to the vice president position.

Rosanne Hahn remained clerk and Larry Anderson treasurer.

“I’ve got some big shoes to fill,” Bousman said.

Not only that, Bousman and Campbell will be overseeing some possible changes at the committee level. As Bousman explained, a proposal will be coming before the board in May to change the Community Education Committee to the Community Relations Committee.

The idea, Bousman said, is to improve communications with the community – both on big-name issues such as policy changes that have happened over the last year, and as part of the strategic planning process.

“It seemed to make sense to do that,” Bousman said on Tuesday.

Committee assignments, as they now stand, are:

  • Personnel Committee – William Campbell (chairman), Rosanne Hahn, Todd Terry.
  • Finance Committee – Larry Anderson (chairman), Kevin Bird, Todd Terry.
  • Curriculum Committee – Rosanne Hahn (chairwoman), Jim Bousman, Phil Ketterhagen.
  • Buildings, Grounds and Transportation Committee – Jim Bousman (chairman), Phil Ketterhagen, William Campbell.
  • Long-Range Planning Committee – Todd Terry (chairman), Jim Bousman, Rosanne Hahn.
  • Community Relations Committee – Kevin Bird (chairman), William Campbell, Larry Anderson.
  • Policy Committee – Phil Ketterhagen (chairman), Kevin Bird, Larry Anderson.
