Using the beloved Dr. Seuss children’s books of “The Cat in the Hat,” “Horton Hears a Who!” and “Green Eggs and Ham” as the backdrop, the children’s show “Seussical the Musical” hits the stage of the Malt House Theater, Burlington, starting Thursday.
The children’s shows produced by the Haylofters are Aug. 6-8 and Aug. 13-15 at 7 p.m., with matinees at 2 p.m. on Aug. 9 and Aug. 16 at the Malt House Theater.
Tickets are $8 apiece and available on thehaylofters.com or at The Coffee House at Chestnut and Pine, 492 N. Pine St., Burlington.
The musical takes audience members through multiple scenes from the famous books.
Director Julie Busch said she was part of the production when it was done at St. Charles School about seven years ago, and wanted a chance to make the show shine.
“I just love the music, and the story’s great,” Busch said. “It’s kind of about somebody gets judged for some reason thinking they’re crazy, and in the end, the true friends that stuck with them … and they turn out not to be crazy.
“It’s a great show,” she added. “A lot of kids get the chance to shine.”
