The Burlington Area School District School Board decided Monday night to replace entry doors at Waller Elementary School.
Three doors – at entrances 4, 5 and 6 – need replacing, and the board approved the low bid of $48,524 by Quality Door and Hardware in Wisconsin Rapids.
The entry doors are old and rusting at ground level. The new doors will have more glass, and the work on entrance 5 will also open up windows that had been previously covered.
The work was budgeted for this year, though Buildings and Grounds Supervisor Gary Olsen fielded questions on replacing the doors in the middle of the facilities study (see page 1).
“They are going to need replacement no matter what we do,” Olsen said.
The motion was approved unanimously first through the School Board Finance Committee, and then by the School Board.
