Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling confirmed a threat was made at Union Grove Union High this morning.
“At this point, there’s no information to verify that school students are in danger,” Schmaling said in a text about 2:30 p.m. Students remained at school for the day, while David J. Kopecky was taken to Racine County Jail and later charged.
According to a press release from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, the original information about the threat was received by the Racine Communications Center at about 8:20 a.m. Kopecky allegedly threatened to blow up the school and cause “great bodily harm” to students and staff.
Kopecky was listed as an inmate at the jail Thursday night, and being held on a $5,150 bail.
