The driver of a Dodge Neon carrying three Union Grove Union High School students to the school’s post-season softball banquet succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash Thursday night.
Taylor Skendziel, 17, died in the early evening, with a family member posting a Facebook update shortly before 8 p.m.
“It is with great sadness that today we are saying goodbye to our sweet Taylor Skendziel as she has been received in heaven,” Tammy Skendziel wrote.
According to information from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, Skendziel was driving on Highway U when an SUV ran a stop sign where the road intersects with 2 Mile Road. Skendziel had to be extricated from the vehicle, and she was taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital.
